at long last

everyone who's reading this should feel very loved because i haven't even unpacked from my trip yet and i'm making time to post pictures. yes, i've been home for two weeks... but i've been very busy with summer festivities. nephi put most of them on facebook but here are more of my favorites:

taking a little walk up hay way where nephi's parents live

sticking my hand in the arctic ocean! never thought i would do that.

this little boat has something to do with a whale ceremony... i don't remember the specifics.

i wasn't really trying to sleep but it really was the middle of the night.

it's actually very pretty in [parts of] barrow.

one of the best pictures of nephi in the history of nephi.

i've been to the tippity top of the world!

all the buildings are on stilts because of permafrost.

stunning view of the neighborhood

a real live eskimo!

cutiepie reminiscing about his glory days at barrow high

the only stop light in barrow and it wasn't even in use.

of course the second we got back to fairbanks nephi caught a big juicy frog and brought it inside.

on our way to denali

baby moose!

a river runs through it.

photo cred: me. thank you very much.

fish camp. look what i did to that fish!

i joined the pros that day.

we went to alaskaland one day and it was one of my favorite things. it's cute to imagine nephi running all over when he was little. hahaha i'm thinking about it right now omg he was a cute little kid.

riding a little train around the park

howwww cuuuuute is this kid? nephi's nephew bret.

backyard view from the hammock

we went on a little night hike up to this pretty lake

i just love this house.

the salmon chowder we made was quite tasty. i'm not embarrassed to admit that martha taught me how to chop vegetables. should i be?

little niece brenna is so much fun even though i had to re-friend her every morning.

midnight sun run on our last night. we ran/walked/chatted a 10k

mt. mckinley from the plane.

best alaska trip ever. nephi even said so and he's been there tons of times.

I can't believe what you did to that fish!! And a midnight sun run, what a weird thing running in daylight in the middle of the night. Looks like it was alot of fun, and that you did alot of stuff that you don't normally do, good for you ;)

the whale boat picture: every crew has its own flag. when they park their umiaq (walrus skin boat) with the flag up, it means that the crew has landed a whale that season. by the way, those whale boats are really odoriferous. you really don't want to be downwind from one!

Thank you for calling it Alaskaland and not "that other name."

The stop light wasn't working because its only used during the school year for kids to cross the street safely. Its not really a traffic light, its a pedestrian light. Wierd huh?

You got to see a lot of cool things up there. I think my two favorite pictures are the ones with my mom in the kitchen and my dad, holding up your AMAZING fillet.

Katie is wrong- they NEVER use the traffic light. I know cause I live there.

I love the picture off the back porch- I never tire of that view! :o)

Come back soon.
